Running a YouTube channel means being a writer, designer, editor and marketer at once. AI can't make you creative, but it can take the slow, repetitive work off your plate so you publish more often. Here's a free toolkit for every step, from idea to upload.

Step 1: Video ideas

Tool: ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude

My channel is about [niche] for [audience]. Give me 20 video ideas people are likely searching for, with a one-line hook for each. Mix beginner and advanced topics.

Then check real demand by typing your idea into YouTube search and looking at the autocomplete suggestions.

Step 2: Script

Tool: our free Script and Prompt Writer plus any AI chatbot

Fill in your topic, audience and length to get a detailed prompt, then paste it into your AI. Ask for a strong hook in the first 10 seconds and a reason to keep watching every minute.

Step 3: Title

Tool: our free Headline Analyzer

Ask AI for 15 title options, then score your favourites. Aim for under 70 characters so they don't get cut off on phones.

Step 4: Thumbnail

Tools: Gemini or Canva

Gemini is excellent at readable text in images, which makes it great for thumbnails. Try:

Create a YouTube thumbnail, 16:9, with the words "I TRIED IT FOR 30 DAYS" in bold yellow letters, a surprised person on the right, and a bright, high-contrast background.

Then polish it in Canva. Read our full guide to making AI images with Gemini.

Step 5: Editing

Tools: CapCut or Descript

  • CapCut: auto captions, background removal and templates. See our CapCut AI tricks.
  • Descript: edit your video by editing the transcript, and remove filler words.

Step 6: Description, chapters and tags

Tool: our free YouTube Description Generator

Add your title, summary, timestamps and links, and get a complete description with chapters and hashtags in seconds.

Step 7: Repurpose

Turn this video script into 3 YouTube Shorts ideas, an Instagram caption and a short LinkedIn post: [paste script]

Keep it authentic

Viewers subscribe to you. Use AI for speed, but keep your own stories, opinions and personality in every video. Check YouTube's rules on labelling realistic AI-generated content when you upload.
