APA vs MLA vs Harvard: which should I use?

Use whatever your teacher or university asks for. APA is common in psychology, education and the social sciences. MLA is used in English, literature and the humanities. Harvard is popular at UK and Australian universities, and at many others worldwide, across many subjects.

How do I cite a website with no author?

Leave the author box empty. In APA and Harvard the title moves into the author position, and in MLA the citation starts with the title.

Do I need to italicise anything?

Yes. Book titles, journal names and (in APA) web page titles are italicised. When you paste the citation into Word or Google Docs, italicise those parts by hand, because copied plain text can't keep italics everywhere.

Is this citation generator accurate?

It follows the official APA 7, MLA 9 and Harvard (Cite Them Right) patterns. Always check your teacher's guide for small differences, such as whether to include access dates.
