Learn Any Language with AI: A Free 30-Day Plan That Actually Works

Language apps are fun, but most people plateau because they never actually talk. AI changes that. A chatbot can be your patient conversation partner, grammar coach and flashcard maker, any time of day, without judging your mistakes. Here is a simple 30-day plan using free tools.

Your free toolkit

  • An AI chatbot (ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude) for conversation and explanations. Voice mode on the mobile apps lets you practise speaking.
  • Google Translate or DeepL for quick checks.
  • Anki or Quizlet for flashcards.
  • Our Study Timer to keep sessions short and daily.

The magic setup prompt

You are my friendly [Spanish] tutor. My level is [beginner]. Talk to me only in simple [Spanish], one or two sentences at a time. After each of my replies, correct my mistakes in English, then continue the conversation. Today's topic: [ordering food].

Week 1: Survival basics

  • Ask AI for the 100 most useful words and 20 everyday phrases for your goal (travel, work, family).
  • Turn them into flashcards: "Make these into question-and-answer flashcards I can import into Anki."
  • Practise greetings and introductions with the tutor prompt for 15 minutes a day.

Week 2: Real conversations

  • Role-play daily situations: café, taxi, shop, asking directions.
  • Switch on voice mode and speak out loud, even if it feels strange.
  • Ask: "What were my 3 most common mistakes today? Give me a mini lesson on each."

Week 3: Grammar that sticks

  • "Explain the past tense in [French] like I'm 12, with 5 examples from daily life."
  • "Give me 10 fill-in-the-blank sentences to practise it, then check my answers."
  • Write a 5-sentence diary entry each day and ask for corrections.

Week 4: Level up

  • Ask for short stories at your level on topics you love, with a vocabulary list.
  • Summarize a short video or article in your target language and get feedback.
  • Do a 10-minute "no English" conversation challenge every day.

Tips that make the difference

  • Daily beats long: 20 minutes every day is better than 3 hours on Sunday.
  • Speak, don't just read: pronunciation and confidence only grow by talking.
  • Keep a mistake list: review it every week.
  • Double-check: AI is very good at languages but can still make mistakes, especially with slang and regional phrases.
